Having previously called Brighton home, Rose Keeler-Schaffeler has just moved back to the big smoke. Here she introduces rising stars Keel Her.

“I started writing songs when I was a kid but the Keel Her thing started in 2009. I met Andrew in 2012 and we started playing live together later that year. I usually write everything, but we're starting to collaborate a lot more so it's nice to have a fresh perspective, otherwise I'd just be writing sad songs alone forever.

“I have lots of influences and they're always changing. At the moment I really like Die Radierer, Lio, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Cornershop, Margo Guryan. I find it really hard to pinpoint my influences in my music, but I'm doing fine just leaving that to other people.

“We supported The Charlatans once at The Garage in London which was mad. Any gig with free bottled water is a big gig to me.

“Critical Heights recently released my first album [the self-titled Keel Her], and some 7ins.

“I have lots of tapes and things out which I put up on Bandcamp. I want to carry on writing and playing shows.

“I am starting a nursing degree later this year, so I want that to go well and organise time for both, but I’ll never stop being creative. I am doing a split cassette which will be out soon, and we are currently working on our next album.”
