AS he prepares to release debut EP Home with new project Bones Of Gold, former grunge–rocker Matt Cayless talks about starting again after the collapse of his last outfit New Sun Blues.

“New Sun Blues mutually decided to part ways because other things in life as they sometimes do become a priority, such as starting a family, getting married or travelling the world.

“I started writing songs from aged 13 when I received my first electric guitar for my birthday. I always enjoyed creating music more than copying and learning others – although the songs were rubbish to begin with!

“Although both Jake [Archer] and Milo [Glazier] have their input in Bones Of Gold ultimately it’s my vision and direction. We started recording the EP in November but the songs had been written over the last few years.

“We all have very different influences. I am typically drawn towards alternative acts such as Jeff Buckley, Pearl Jam, Radiohead and Led Zeppelin, whereas Jake and Milo are big fans of ska and jazz.

“We are yet to play a show, and to be honest we will likely only play a handful. If the music is well received then we would look to do a longer tour later in the year.”
