Tonight Brighton funk-pop sextet Mojo Jojo headline a new night organised by promoters Overhead Wires and The Coalition designed to ignite the city's music scene.

Below the band introduces themselves.

"We met each other whilst studying at BIMM. Our singer Jess is from London. Guitarist Ben is from Hemel Hempstead and Chris, Adam and Matt are all from Reading. The boys had already started a funk band back in Reading. When they came to BIMM they found Jess and the rest is history!

"We take influences from The Meters, James Brown, Jamiroquai and Red Hot Chilli Peppers to create our modern take on old school funk and soul. We recorded a three-track EP with Nick Trepka at a little studio in North London called Cowshed.

"The biggest gigs we've played are at The Spice of Life in London's Soho and a Walsall festival called Bands On The Beacon in front of 3,000 people. We are also in talks with Brighton-based independent film production company, Jump Start, about using some of our music for their next film Home for Christmas."
