An intimate Foo Fighters gig in Brighton has sold out in a matter of minutes.

Rumours have been circulating the internet ever since the band hinted at a Brighton date last night after posting a picture of a stick of rock and lyrics from the 1974 Queen hit Brighton Rock.

Dozens of music fans gathered this afternoon outside Concorde 2 music venue, hoping they could pick up tickets from the venue.

However, shortly after 3pm the  band Tweeted that tickets would go on sale at 4pm on the internet.

Just minutes after 4pm all tickets, priced at £27.50, had sold out.

The gig will start at 6.30pm tomorrow night.

Shortly after the concert sold out, the band Tweeted: "Brighton, see you guys tomorrow...2 more to come, UK...keep your eyes & ears open..."

Meanwhile fans took to Twitter tell of their delight at securing tickets or more likely their dissapointment at missing out.

Twitter user Moe H, said: "YES!! Just bagged me two tickets for @foofighters tonight at #concorde2 in Brighton. Thank you #Twitter."

Simon Burtenshaw meanwhile said: "So @foofighters tix for brighton sold out in less than 30secs?! Felt so close but yet so far :'("

Earlier desperate fans gathered outside the venue hoping they could buy from the box office.

Some fans, from outside Brighton even offered to pay for others to queue for them.

Sarah Uncles, from Bristol, posted: “I will pay someone £30 to go queue outside Concorde 2 for me in Brighton and potential get me tickets for @foofighters.”

Argus reporter Adrian Imms, who visited the Concorde 2 this afternoon, said the venue was in the process of being set up for one of the biggest bands in the world.

He said: "They are cleaning the back stage area and the multicore (a long connecting cable tube with normally about 24 plugs in it) between the stage and sound desk at the Concorde 2 is empty.

"You don't just unplug all that unless a band with its own entire crew is playing a show."
