Canterbury-born but Brighton-based Gazelle Twin introduces her long-awaited second album Unflesh ahead of an appearance at Spectrum tonight.

The album, which is being released on her own label Anti-Ghost Moon Ray, is the follow-up to her 2011 debut The Entire City.

“At the age of about seven I began making music and never stopped. My biggest influence is experimental electronic music, and that covers a lot of ground… anything from Throbbing Gristle to The Knife. I also have a long-held love of film soundtracks, choral and early European folk and classical music too. I moved to Brighton 12 years ago to study contemporary music at Sussex Uni.

“I think the best description of how the music currently sounds is Industrial-Pop. There's a load of other crossovers, I have a sort of folky/choral singing voice but I like to smash that about with heavy beats, synths and samples.

“I am about to go on tour for the first time ever this autumn. If it all goes to plan, it'll be about three months of gigging and travelling, so that's taking up most of my time at the moment as there's loads to plan for. After that I guess I will aim to release some more music in 2015.

“The SPECTRUM night on Friday, September 26 will celebrate the launch of this album, along with others coming up by BERNHOLZ and Great Pagans. Our fourth collective member, Acquaintance, released his debut LP earlier this year which will be on sale for the gig. We've all been busy!”

Gazelle Twin headlines Spectrum, at Brighton Dome Studio Theatre, tonight from 7.30pm. Tickets £4 from 01273 709709.
