Sussex Voiceworks mark the First World War centenary with a mass for peace in Shoreham this weekend
Sussex Voiceworks is marking the 70th birthday of one of the world’s most performed living composers, and 100 years since the beginning of the First World War with a concert tomorrow (Saturday, November 15).
Karl Jenkins’s The Armed Man: A Mass For Peace was commissioned by the Royal Armouries to commemorate the Millennium.
It will be performed by a 100-strong choir including singers from Sussex Voiceworks, Surrey-based instrumental ensemble Surrey ProMusica, and special guest soloist mezzo soprano Katie Coventry, all conducted by Peter Farrant.
The Armed Man is at St Mary de Haura Church in East Street, Shoreham from 8pm on Saturday, November 15. Tickets cost £14/£5 from 01273 419665 or www.sussexvoiceworks.co.uk.
