The former Pipettes singer will be sharing new material which features on her forthcoming album – Stellular – at Drill Festival.
“Stelluar light is a certain kind of light that comes off the stars and I liked the word,” she says. “It fits in with a few ideas I had in the songs.”
The album follows last year’s Strange Warning EP which, with its pop hooks, fizzy electronics and bright keys, showed Dougall’s maturing songwriting.
Her 2010 debut album, Without Why, was an introspective affair which came two years after she left The Pipettes.
Two years on the road with Mark Ronson and contributing to his Record Collection album inspired her live shows more than her sound.
Still, she admits the super-producer helped her rediscover her love of pop music.
“I got to sing with Ghostface Killah and Boy George and the level of performance was so high.
“They were big pop shows but what I do is lot more intimate.”
She’s 27 now and “not a shy 21-year-old girl anymore”.
“My idea of pop music has developed,” she adds. “That is what I am trying to show.”
