EASTBOURNE’S Roam introduce themselves ahead of a Brighton show later this month.

“Vocalist Alex Costello and guitarist Alex Adam went to school together and always aspired to be in a band. When we all got to college we formed a band, which we won’t name here, with Sam Veness on guitar, Charlie Pearson on drums and Matt Roskilly on bass.

“We started as Roam in mid-2012 and that’s when we put together our first EP No Common Ground. We take a lot of influence from the pop-punk bands we listened to growing up, such as Green Day, Blink-182 and Sum 41, as well as more modern bands such as Set Your Goals and Such Gold.

“The biggest show we have played to date is supporting Enter Shikari at the Hatfield Forum. As it was their hometown show it was in front of a couple of thousand people, which is a massive audience for us! It sold out in around 12 hours, so it was insane for us to play.

“That tour just opened our eyes to playing in these different places. We went to places in Europe that usually get overlooked by bands as we went east from Poland down to Greece, but there were still people willing to listen to your music and have a great time.

“So far we have released two EPs - No Common Ground and Head Down. We also just released a single called Warning Sign from our Viewpoint EP, which will be released on Monday, January 26, through Hopeless Records. It’s a huge indie label in the States we just signed a worldwide deal with.

“We haven’t actually booked recording slots for our album yet. We do have a few demos on the go though, and they’re sounding great! We are very excited for the year ahead. We’re going to tour the US for a month in spring, and come back to play for a month around Europe and the UK with Man Overboard from New Jersey.”
