As new music festival The Great Escape celebrates its tenth anniversary the first 150 artists to play the city-wide event have just been announced.

The biggest name announced so far is Alabama Shakes, who packed out the 400-capacity Komedia in 2012. Three years on they will be promoting their forthcoming second album with a show at the Brighton Dome Concert Hall on Friday, May 15.

Also making a return having made their Great Escape debut in 2012 will be Django Django, as they try to follow up their Mercury Music Prize-nominated self-titled debut album, plus Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine supergroup The Thurston Moore Band and cult Scottish favourites Admiral Fallow.

Among the up-and-coming acts set to play venues across Brighton between Thursday, May 14, and Saturday, May 16, will be experimental folk singer Soak, LA songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr, BBC Sound Of 2015 nominees Slaves, North London dreamy electronic trio Real Lies, Malian desert punks Songhoy Blues and Brighton-born producer Louis Mttrs.

Festival Director Kat Morris said: “The Great Escape is extremely proud to champion emerging talent and creativity across the entire music industry.

“For the past decade, The Great Escape has given upcoming artists the opportunity to perform for 18,000 passionate fans each year who are all hugely supportive of new music.

“To mark this very special 10th anniversary, we are excited to be bringing back some very special guests who have all performed iconic and memorable shows in previous years to play alongside 400 of 2015s hottest emerging artists from across the world.”

In a break from tradition, and to mark their first decade, The Great Escape’s international partner will be the United Kingdom, celebrating the best music to come out of the British Isles. The three-day festival is accompanied by an industry convention discussed music licensing, marketing branding and the future of record labels in a series of panels, presentations and debates.

Three-day festival passes start at £49.50, with separate tickets for Alabama Shakes costing £19.50. Entry to both the festival and the convention start at £145 for a delegate pass.
