SOUTH African trumpeter Hugh Masekela was apparently inspired to take up the horn after seeing a Kirk Douglas movie as a teenager. He now has an impressive back catalogue of more than 40 recordings, having worked with both jazz and pop greats, including The Byrds and Paul Simon.
Terence Blanchard E-Collective

MULTI-GRAMMY-WINNING jazz revival artist Terence Blanchard brings his new young collective to Love Supreme featuring guitarist Charles Altura, pianist Fabian Almazan, and the rhythm section of Donald Ramsey and Oscar Seaton.
Ginger Baker’s Jazz Confusion

THE former Cream drummer is still touring the world with his new improvisational outfit, building on the success of 2012 music doc Beware Of Mr Baker.
Haitus Kaiyote
Main Stage, 3pm
GRAMMY Award winners Hiatus Kaiyote have been given props by the likes of Questlove, Erykah Badu, Pharrell Williams and Prince ever since the release of debut album Tawk Tomahawk in 2012.
Ibibio Sound Machine
The Arena, 8.45pm
BASED around British/Nigerian vocalist Eno Williams, Ibibio Sound Machine released their debut album in 2014 mixing African influences with contemporary London sounds.
Hackney Colliery Band
Main Stage, noon
SINCE their 2011 debut album Hackney Colliery Band have played live with the late Amy Winehouse, headlined the Manchester and Durham Brass Festivals and were the only fully live band to perform at the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony.
Verdict Bandstand
EDWARD Street’s own jazz mecca has been tasked with programming the Bandstand stage this year.
Expect a showcase of the finest Sussex artists, including Vels Trio, the Eddie Myer 5tet and Straight No Chaser, headline sets from Tomorrow’s Warriors Nerija and Cloggz, plus early morning salsa classes.
