TICKETS go on sale at 10am on Friday, February 12, for the return of the singer-songwriter turned opera composer Rufus Wainwright to Brighton Dome Concert Hall in June.
Possessing one of the most powerful and characterful voices of modern music, Wainwright also comes from strong songwriting stock.
He is the son of cult satirical folkie Loudon Wainwright III and the late Kate McGarrigle, and brother to singers Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche.
Following a pair of critically acclaimed albums, Wainwright broke through with his two Want albums in 2003 and 2004, and their lush follow-up Release The Stars in 2007.
With his last album – the Mark Ronson-produced Out Of The Game - seeing daylight in 2012 its fair to assume there will be some new music being showcased in Brighton.
* Rufus Wainwright plays Brighton Dome Concert Hall, Church Street, on Saturday, June 4, 7.30pm, tickets from £47.50. Call 01273 709709 or visit www.brightdome.org
