FOR his second album Gamble For A Rose King Charles joined forces with Marcus Mumford, leader of multi-unit shifters Mumford And Sons. He has since unveiled a new look – including the loss of his long dreadlocks – although a link with the past remains on his latest album in a recording of debut Loveblood’s Coco Chitty.

Worthing Symphony Orchestra

CELLIST Leonard Elschenbroich joins the Worthing Symphony Orchestra to perform Walton’s cello concerto, which was inspired by the composer’s wife Susana.

Also on the Valentine’s bill are romantic favourites form Mendelssohn, Elgar, Puccini, Carwhithen and Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite.

Brighton And Palestine Young Musicians Together

YOUNG musicians from the Brighton Youth Orchestra String Ensemble, Royal Academy Of Music, Yehudi Menuhin School and Purcell School Of Music are raising money to bring Palestinian musicians to the city for Brighton Fringe.

Andrew Sherwood will be conducting the 11 to 19-year-olds in a programme including Bach, Mendelssohn, Haydn and Vivaldi, as well as the premiere of Guy Richardson’s work Houriya, which is dedicated to the Galilee Quartet. The money will go towards the £6,000 already raised to bring children from the Edward Said National Conservatory Of Music to Brighton.

TEEN Creeps bring NZCA Lines back to Brighton, following the release of second album Infinite Summer.

Michael Lovett has been joined by former Ash guitarist Charlotte Hatherley and Hot Chip and NYPC drummer Sarah Jones to create a concept album marrying influences from Arthur C Clarke, JG Ballard, Daft Punk and Prince.

HAVING worked with former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler on debut album Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do back in 2013, London trio Flowers worked with former My Bloody Valentine producer Brian O’Shaughnessey on the follow-up Everybody’s Dying To Meet You.

Part of the ultra-cool indie-label Fortuna Pop! the band combines the sweetness of Rachel Kennedy’s vocals with abrasive guitar in a true 1980s indie style.

WILD Nights is the second album by all-girl Manchester band Pins – who take their influences from My Bloody Valentine, Jesus And Mary Chain and Hole.

Last year saw the indie quartet support fellow influence the recently reunited Sleater-Kinney in the UK.
