SAM Jordan and the Dead Boys have today released their new single Sister.

They are also just a tantalising month away from the launch of their debut album When Golden Morning Comes.

Earlier this week the dancer turned singer and his backing band supported Pentangle at Komedia in Brighton.

The son of a carpenter, who spent his formative musical years busking, introduces himself and the band:

“We are Brighton based. From the Patcham and Hollingbury border.

“I am a builder, I write songs and sing them. I work with a band called The Dead Boys.

“I started writing songs seriously when I was training as a dancer in London. It took over my life and now I have myself in a right mess where I have made a record and it’s going to be out there for you to hear.

"I am influenced by Dylan, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Leadbelly, George Orwell and Charles Bukowski. As for sound- we are the sound of chimes falling down the stairs, the soundtrack to a dream where you meet another version of yourself on a hill, the sound of a creaking doomed ship on the ocean. Those kinds of sounds.

“Sometimes when I go busking over 400 people must walk past. There’s been some interesting shows in Sussex so far, an empty shop in Eastbourne, a Neon pub in Worthing, a sex club posing as an art gallery in Brighton. Plus some less seedy places like St Pancras Old Church, London. Recently a gig at Servant Jazz Quarter. Lots more to come.

“We have a record coming early May called When Golden Morning Comes. We recorded it at Toerag studio which is decked out with 60’s recoding equipment and tape machines . It’s a fully analogue record. The single Corpse is going to be released this month.

“Our plans for the future are to make more records and play more show’s. I hope to get about a bit this summer too. Maybe a tour if you keep your ears peeled. France could be on the cards.

"A humble local pub tour and hopefully some bigger shows in London The Islington June 16

“We are performing in Sussex next month. You should come down to the Joker on the May 6 for our headlining record launch gig.”
