Dickens' tale of Christmas' past, present and those yet to come have had many incarnations over the years.

But performing the classic as a ballet was a novel way to bring new life to the story.

Ballet Theatre UK's retelling of the tale begins on the bustling streets of Victorian London on Christmas Eve.

It's here that we meet Scrooge - a man who dislikes his family and colleagues as much as he dislikes the festive period.

But when he‎ encounters a series of spectres he realises the error of his miserable ways.

Full of energy from the start, this production at Brighton Dome's Concert Hall proved enchanting from start to finish.

Featuring some of the future stars of the ballet world, its beauty was in its simplistic story telling.

Familiar characters such as Bob Cratchitt and Tiny Tim needed little introduction.

‎But the stars were those tasked with showing Scrooge his past, present and future.

Combined with a soundtrack made up of Christmas carols, the result was clever, charming and full of cheer.

By the time Christmas Day arrived, it was not just Scrooge who had his miserable ways change.

Anyone watching would have been spirited away while remembering what the true meaning of the festive period is.
