Twelfth Night
Charleston, near Lewes, Tuesday, July 21, and Wednesday, July 22
Matthew Bourne gave us an all-male Swan Lake. Now Shakespeare’s best loved romantic comedy, Twelfth Night, comes to Charleston with an all-male cast.
With its unique blend of all-male Shakespearean entertainment , Twelfth Night is a joyous tale of love, longing and laughter; mischief, mayhem and mistaken identity.
It’s all about identical twins separated by shipwreck; a cross-dressing heroine and everyone in search of love.
The Lord Chamberlain’s Men - named after the Bard’s original troupe of travelling players - was founded in 2004 and quickly established itself as a major open-air touring company.
It will be taking in over 80 of the UK’s most beautiful and historic venues this summer. The fast-paced production is in full Elizabethan costume with traditional music and dance and goes ahead in all but the very worst weather.
Starts 7.30pm, tickets £18/£16. Call 01323 811626 or visit www.charleston.org.uk/whats-on
