Private Lives

Theatre Royal Brighton, New Road, Monday, February 1, to Saturday, February 6

STRICTLY Come Dancing winner Tom Chambers and Tipping The Velvet’s Laura Rogers will be heading up the cast in a revival of Noel Coward’s classic comedy Private Lives.

Tom Attenborough will direct the story of a divorced couple who while honeymooning with their respective spouses accidentally find themselves ensconced next door to each other in the same hotel.

It’s not long before the pair discover they are unable both to live with or without each other.

The original performance starred the playwright himself alongside long-time muse Gertrude Lawrence, with Adrianne Allen and Laurence Olivier in supporting roles.

Revivals have seen the similarly volatile Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton starring opposite each other in 1983, as well as Anton Lesser and Juliet Stevenson, Alan Rickman and Lindsay Duncan, Matthew Macfadyen and Kim Cattrall and most recently at 2012’s Chichester Festival Theatre season Anna Chancellor opposite Toby Stephens in a production which transferred to the West End.

Tickets for the show, which is coming to Brighton as part of a national tour, are on sale now.

Starts 7.45pm, 2.30pm matinee Thurs and Sat, tickets from £16.90. Call 08448 717650.
