Theatre Royal Brighton new season

Theatre Royal Brighton, New Road, from Tuesday, January 12

THERE’S mystery, mirth and musical fun all coming to Theatre Royal Brighton in 2016 as the New Road venue announces its spring season.

The theatre already announced a revival of Noel Coward’s Private Lives coming in February and former EastEnder couple Shane Richie and Jessie Wallace starring in Peter James’ The Perfect Murder in March.

But there are more exciting shows making their Brighton debut including a stage version of David Walliams’ Gangsta Granny ahead of a London run from Wednesday, March 2, English Touring Theatre’s take on the RSC hit The Herbal Bed about a scandal surrounding Shakespeare’s daughter from Tuesday, March 22, Dudley Sutton starring in John Steinbeck’s Of Mice And Men from Tuesday, April 19, and a new 1970s jukebox musical Jackie from Tuesday, April 5.

The season starts with Annie from Tuesday, January 12, starring Lesley Joseph as orphanage owner Miss Hannigan, followed by Agatha Christie’s record-breaking whodunit The Mousetrap featuring Louise Jameson as Mrs Boyle from Monday, January 25.

Our front cover star King Charles III featuring Robert Powell starts on Monday, February 8; ever-popular dance company Rambert brings a new triple bill headed up by The Three Dancers on Wednesday, March 16; Lisa Maxwell stars in the Judy Garland musical End Of The Rainbow from Tuesday, March 29; and the 2014 Moliere Award-winner for best play The Father, by Florian Zeller, makes its Brighton debut from Monday, April 25, in a new translation by Christopher Hampton.
