Keith Jack, runner-up in TV talent show Any Dream Will Do back in 2007, plays the lead role with a boy-like charm in this spectacular production of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Jack has a powerful voice and does full justice to the musical score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, although he lacks the sheer magnetism of predecessor Lee Mead.
Joseph ticks all the boxes, with favourite songs Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door and One More Angel encouraging the audience to sing along.
This popular musical tells the story of Joseph, one of 12 brothers, who is his father Jacob’s favourite. When Jacob gives Joseph a coat of many colours the jealous brothers sell the boy into slavery and tell their father he is dead. Joseph’s talent for interpreting dreams results in him being freed from prison to become the right hand man to the Pharaoh.
The Pharaoh is brilliantly played by Adam Jarrell in this production, who does a great take-off of Elvis, one of the show’s main stand-out moments.
Jennifer Potts, as the Narrator, is also outstanding, while Henry Metcalfe as Jacob is the pick of an excellent supporting cast. Metcalfe also choreographed this feel-good Bill Kenwright production.
