A Thornton Heath man is threatening legal action against Croydon Council because neighbouring council tenants are dumping rubbish in his private garden.
Bensham Manor Road resident Asoka De Silva has complained to the council about the bin bags piling up in his garden since the start of July, which he blames on people living in Marion Road.
He said: “I have contacted my solicitors and I am ready to take action because I have put up with this problem for too long.”
And he added: “The council said they had contacted the tenancy officer and if the tenants hadn't cleared it by July 27, they would do the job, but they haven't. The tenants haven't cleared it and the council hasn't either.”
The housing spokesman was unavailable to comment on the matter this week, but council staff have acknowledged the problem and last month suggested Mr Asoka put up a galvanised fence to protect his garden.
