SITUATED high on Whitehawk Hill, with spectacular views across Brighton and over to the sea, the iconic Brighton Racecourse will be teeming with jockeys, horses and racegoers when it holds its annual Festival of Racing next month.

Described as one of the best places in the UK to watch sport, the three-day event has seven races scheduled each day and kicks off on August 3 with its feature race the Brighton Mile, the racecourse’s richest race of the year.

It’s followed on August 4 by the Frost Ladies Day and the Brighton Challenge Cup race, with the Brighton Bullet race bringing the festival to a thundering close on the final day, August 5.

To make things simple for eager racegoers, the racecourse has produced a handy infographic guide to how to pick a winner on the day. Complete with handy tips on how to analyse details such as a horse’s course and distance record, its behaviour in the paddock and its fitness, it ends with an easy guide on how to place your bet.

The racecourse is expecting records numbers to attend Frost Ladies Day, one of its most popular days of the year, and this year featuring the iconic brand Ted Baker.

“Ladies Day is the ultimate opportunity for ladies to pull out all the stops and give our judges a really hard time choosing the winner of the Best Dressed Competition,” said Grainne Bartholomew, Brighton Racecourse marketing manager. “With Brighton’s reputation for style and sassiness, we’re expecting to be wowed – and there are some fabulous prizes to be won.”

With plans for a carnival atmosphere featuring stilt-walkers, the Sussex Steel steelpan band, pop-up food stalls and a Pimms tent, the Racecourse team is aiming to make the festival more fun than Ascot in Brighton’s own unique style.

The racecourse’s Silks Restaurant has a new 2016 menu, and there is also a dining package including champagne on arrival in the trackside luxury marquee, and private suites with a personal host service and exclusive trackside balcony are also available.
