There have been big changes on Brighton seafront since this picture of King’s Road was taken a century ago.
The gardens have gone, replaced by hard landscaping, and the old Bedford Hotel was destroyed by fire in 1964.
Further east, the red bricked Metropole lost its distinctive spire and roofline in the 1960s and at the same time the tallest block of flats in the city, Sussex Heights, was built.
The West Pier, on the right is now a ruin. Further changes are taking place at the root end of the pier with the erection of the Brighton i360, a tall observation tower, scheduled to open in 2016.
