Eye of the Tigers

Ice hockey player Patsy Sequin
Patsy Sequin was an early net minder for the Brighton Tigers ice hockey team in the 1930s.
In this picture, contributed by Roy Devereux of Brighton, he is part of the 1936/37 side.
The Tigers were, in their day, as popular as the Albion, and big crowds attended their games at the Sports Stadium in West Street.
Sadly, the stadium lasted barely 30 years before being demolished in 1965. It was never properly replaced.
Roy thinks ice hockey fans, patiently waiting for a new rink, need reminding of the Tigers, their glamour and many sporting successes.
