In this months’s column, StrideFit’s Rob Jones will help you get summer ready by kickstarting your fitness regime to lose that winter weight.

Finally there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes the days are getting longer and spring is finally on its way, it’s time to wake up and break free from your fitness hibernation! It’s time to shed some of that winter timber and get lean and strong ready for summer.

Sound like something you’re keen to do? Then let me give you a little help kick-starting your summer shape change.

This month I give you (drum roll please) the StrideFit Spring Lean!

What is the Spring Lean?

For the next four weeks I’ll be devoting time to getting my body stronger and leaner by performing some fundamental exercises daily.

On each of the next 28 days I’ll be ringfencing at least 20 minutes of my day to perform some ab crunches, squats and press-ups … without missing a day. I’d like you to join me, are you in?

How to do it

1. Download and print the Spring Lean challenge chart from my blog at www.stridefit.com and make a start TODAY.

2. Find some time daily to complete the number of repetitions of squats, crunches and press-ups listed on the chart for that day. Be sure to protect that time and don’t be tempted to skip the exercise!

3. Now find some well-ventilated space and an exercise mat (or carpet) where you can perform the exercises and get going. If you can’t do the repetitions of one exercise in one go, then move on to the next exercise and come back to finish off the reps afterwards.

4. Each day the number of repetitions will increase, as will your strength and tone.
