Sussex look at talented bowling duo

Sussex are giving a trial to one of South Africa's emerging bowlers.

Left-arm seamer Lonwabo Tsotsobe will play for the second team in a three-day match against Derbyshire at Derby today and boasts a high-class domestic record.

The 24-year-old has taken 114 wickets at 21.94 for Eastern Province and was recently named their player of the year after taking 39 wickets last season.

Second team coach Mark Davis said: "We're always looking at potential future overseas or even Kolpak signings and this is a good opportunity to look at him.

"I was back home in the winter and saw him play. He's got a good record and decent stats and is quite highly regarded in South Africa."

Tsotsobe was recently named in South Africa's emerging players squad and is in England playing club cricket for Knypersley in the North Staffordshire and South Cheshire League. He has taken 13 wickets in four games, including a five-for on Saturday.

The second-team attack today will also include 26-year-old Jamaican fast bowler Andy Richardson.

Opening bowler Richardson has taken 94 first-class wickets at 25.29 and is also playing club cricket here this summer.

Davis added: "Andy is another player we have got our eye on and it will be interesting to see how they do and how they get on around our squad."
