Paedophile jailed after complaining to police he was being bullied over child sex attacks

A paedophile was arrested after complaining to police that he was being bullied for having sex with a child.

Oliver White, 21, was jailed for three years after tipping officers off about his own crimes.

White, of Challoner Road, Lindfield, near Haywards Heath, admitted sexual activity with two girls, who were 14 and 15 at the time.

He sexually assaulted the 14-year-old girl he was going out with in April last year in the changing rooms at a leisure centre in Haywards Heath.

Richard Cherrill, prosecuting, said White sent the girl sexually explicit texts which were found by her mother.

Mr Cherrill said White had been having sex with a 15-year-old girl after they started seeing each other in August last year.

The relationship came to light after the girl's brother found out and told his mother, Brighton Crown Court heard yesterday. (mon) Neither of the girls can be identified because of their ages.

Michael Roques, defending said a psychological (crct) report reveals White had a mental age of 11.

Mr Roques said: "Both girls in this case were having relationships with him and were both mentally more mature than him.

"The level of his maturity was demonstrated when he went to the police to complain that he had been threatened by the brother of one of the girls.

"When the police asked him why, he told them it was because of the relationship he was having with her.

"He was arrested as a result of what he told the police."

Judge Guy Anthony told White: "These were very serious offences against girls of 14 and 15.

"It does not matter if they consented to what went on or not.

"The law says that you must not engage in sexual acts with children under a certain age.

"I bear in mind your particular mental age and am able to deal with you in a less severe manner than would otherwise have been the case.

"Even so, these offences are so serious that only a significant term of imprisonment is possible."

White will have to register as a sex offender indefinitely when he is released from prison.
