Teen's agony over Whitehawk crash
 |
| The crash scene on Wilson Avenue |
A teenage girl who was scene
in a car crash which killed
her friend says she is considering
suicide, according to comments posted on a
website in her name.
The Bebo social networking
site says Chelsea Barnes may
end her life because it has been
turned upside down by the crash.
Chelsea was one of five
youngsters in a red Mazda
which smashed into a garden
wall in Wilson Avenue, Whitehawk,
Brighton, on February 8.
The car was seen driving
erratically and police signalled
for it pull over before pursuing
it. But the driver did not stop
and the car crashed.
Matt Sadler, 17, of Whitehawk
Way, Brighton, died
immediately. The other four
occupants of the vehicle were
taken to the Royal Sussex
County Hospital in Brighton.
The website reads: "RIP
matty i hope your okay up
there watching over those who
need you right now xx
"Well before this crash my
life couldnt have been better,
now i hate my life im
woundering wether to join u up
ther m8.
"RIP matty, i hope yu dont
think of me that way, do
you want michael to go to
prison."
Since the crash, Matt's
friends and family have posted
comments on the website
pleading with Chelsea to tell
the police everything she
knows about the accident.
Chelsea was the girlfriend of
Michael Morden, of Haybourne
Road, Brighton, who was
arrested on suspicion of causing
Matt's death by dangerous
driving.
He has not been charged and
has been released on police bail
until June 13.
One comment posted on the
web page reads: "How bout
telling the people that really
matter n the people that can
stop more hurt and anguish
from happening."
After the crash, Chelsea and
Amy Fitzsimmons, who were
both 15 at the time of the incident,
and Michael Morden, 16,
were released from hospital
with minor injuries.
Simon Piercy, 16, was
treated for injuries. Friends
say he has a broken leg and
ribs, bleeding on the brain
and kidney and liver
damage but is improving.
Bilal Boulaich, of Haybourne
Road in Whitehawk,
escaped injury after
getting out of the front seat
of the car in Meadowview,
Brighton.
Matt's funeral took
place on March 20 at
Downs Crematorium in
Bear Road, Brighton.
Police officers stood
guard to prevent people
from attending who
had been banned by his
family.
In late February
police were called after
Matt's mum, Marie
Sadler, complained of
being harassed at her
Whitehawk home.
Michael Morden was
spoken to by officers,
who told him to give
Mrs Sadler time to
grieve for her son.
