Fault knocks out council phone lines

A council's phones have been knocked out by a fault on the line.

Brighton and Hove City Council is apologising to anyone who has been unable to get through on Wednesday.

A regional fault which occurred on Tuesday night at phone suppliers NTL has knocked out the council's main numbers and affected many other NTL customers.

The council is working closely with NTL to solve the problem and it is hoped the fault will be fixed by Wednesday evening.
