A bus displaying the message "parking problem? - maybe you're the problem!" had to be towed away after reversing into a damaged bollard.

The 5A bus was travelling along Poplar Avenue, in Hangleton, Hove, on Thursday when it met an oncoming vehicle.

To allow the vehicle to pass, the bus had to reverse but the driver did not see a bollard.

Roger French, the managing director of Brighton and Hove Buses, said: "The bollard was already knocked over and the concrete base was sticking up. The driver couldn't see the concrete and reversed over it."

No one is believed to have been injured in the crash which happened at about 1.30pm yesterday.

CRASH FFS, its a dent - unless he was reversing at 30mph.

cops being photographed for parking, now buses being reported for reversing into something - The Argus is showing its self to be a 2 bit provincial comic

driver of bus should of had to reverse anyway,it's 40 foot long and the car is a tenth it's size,it was probably some bloody minded prat in the car whom insisted on making the bus reverse, probably under duress.as most car drivers have no or little respect for other road users especially buses, especially in hanglton.

Unfortunately the hlarious play on the problem parking message doesn't work as the bus wasn't parking, now if the message had said 'reversing problem - maybe you are the problem!' i would be holding my sides in fits of laughter at the argus's clever reporting.

...and in other news someone tripped over a paving stone today in North Street...and finally, pebbles are being washed up all along Brighton Seafront...small round stones smoothed by the sea are being found by walkers, holidaymakers and sunbathers as they enjoy the seafront. The amazing sight was witnessed by 93 year old Brighton resident Agnes Argylle.."I have lived here 93 years and this is the first time I have seen anything like this. You just don't get pebbles here...Bognor maybe", she said. "And I'm 93 you know".

Yawn....

Not news..the only question here is why are we routing buses down roads where vehicles obviously can't pass each other?

this has always been a problem in hangleton, where the locals park their untaxed cars illegally so that no-one can get past. simple solution for bus driver, handbrake on, engine off, get paper out and wait for idiot to move. i believe that somewhere in the psv rules and regulations it states that you should not reverse a bus with passengers on, unless it is an emergency situation, which this clearly wasn't. car drivers should have more respect for bus drivers, who get the best training available, to drive large vehicles but cannot see behind very easily, due to the fact they only have wing mirrors to use.

I tell you what would have been a better play on a message. That of The Big Lemon bus which says 'This bus runs's on Bio Diesel Save the planet' Whilst filling up at BP Lewes Road on proper Diesel.

it doesn't say anything about the other vehicle being a car....

And if the driver didn;t see it, how did they know it had already been knocked over?
