Corey Collymore has thanked his Sussex team-mates for helping him produce his best performance in England.

The 30-year-old Barbados fast bowler took 4-47 against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge yesterday, his best figures since January 2007, to put Sussex in a position to force their first Championship win of the season.

Collymore said: "I can't thank my team-mates enough for helping me settle in at Sussex.

"We are such a close-knit group who do nearly everything together and I think that is fantastic for team spirit.

"Don't get me wrong, all teams have a togetherness but at Sussex it is better than I imagined and it definitely helps lift me on the field of play."

Collymore helped Sussex establish a first-innings lead of 26 and feels his success were a belated reward.

He added: "It's up to others to judge how I perform but I felt against Somerset last week I deserved more than one wicket so it was nice to pick up four, it really boosted my confidence.

"I felt I bowled pretty decently last week but yesterday was a big improvement. Hopefully there is more to come in the second innings because the pitch has got some good bounce and is helping the seamers, but we have to post a big total first and then we can press for a win."

Meanwhile, Monty Panesar is relishing a return to Old Trafford hoping previous success can inspire him in the second npower Test tomorrow.

Panesar said: "I enjoy bowling here because the wicket has a bit of pace and bounce."
