Touts started trying to cash in on Fatboy Slim's latest Brighton beach concert within hours of tickets going on sale.

Some were being advertised for more than double the £35 face price on internet auction websites yesterday.

Other touts were trying to make money by selling links to the ticket sales website - which had only been announced by email to people who went to the Hove DJ's last seafront show on New Year's Day 2007.

Tickets are not due to go on general sale until 9am on Monday.

Fatboy Slim, real name Norman Cook, said the 22,000 tickets for Big Beach Boutique 4 on Saturday, September 27, had been selling quickly but were still available.

The 2007 concert, his first on the beach for five years, sold out within hours of going on sale.

The tickets are only being sold to people who have credit cards registered at a BN postcode, covering an area stretching from Littlehampton to Eastbourne, in an attempt to ensure a local crowd.

The move is part of a series of measures to ensure the city does not get overrun in the same way that it was in 2002 when 250,000 flocked to watch Norman's last summer beach gig.

Each buyer is allowed to buy up to six tickets. Many are expected to fall into the hands of people from outside the BN postal area.

To buy general release tickets on Monday visit www.ticketmaster.co.uk, www.ticketline.co.uk or go to the counter at the Brighton Dome box office in New Road, Brighton.

Why the outraged shock horror? That's the way the world is these days, because people in the past have patronised the touts. If nobody had done so we wouldn't have this situation, so those of you who have ever bought tickets from touts in the past for ANY function only have yourselves to blame. You've made your bed, so now you can lie in it.

Ticket touts are scum and large fines/imprisonment imposed to offenders.
