Micky Adams, appointed last month for his second spell in charge at Albion, is currently preparing for the the new season which starts on August 9.

Here's your chance to ask Micky any questions you have concerning the chances of the club this season, transfer prospects and anything Seagulls related.

Your Say YourArgus

PhilE, West Sussex says...
12:26pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Firstly welcome back
What are your targets for this year both players and the club's position in the League
I realise you are not able to give names of transfer targets but are you able to give any indications on or even if new signings will be forthcoming.

Alan, Brighton says...
12:30pm Fri 27 Jun 08

A two parter if I may!

At the end of your current contract would you expect BHA to be at least a mid to upper positioned club in The Championship?

Also, within a decade (or sooner!), can we reasonably see Brighton doing similar to what Reading achieved and get a taste of the Premiership?

John Packer, London says...
12:33pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Welcome back!

How dissapointed were you with Mr Wilkins decision not to remain at the club? How valuable do you think the work that he has done at the club over the last 10 years have been and what plans are in place to replace him?

Good luck for the season - you've got our full support.

graham willis, lancing says...
12:35pm Fri 27 Jun 08

welcome back mickey, do you have any idea where any more restrenthening positions are with out the benifit of the friendlies, and have you got any body in mind. graham

Dave, Worthing says...
12:38pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hi Mickey,

When were you first approched to return as the Albion manager?

and what objectives have you been set for the new season?

GB, Wilts says...
12:42pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Great to see you back Mickey

What type of qualities do you think the team needs to be successful this season? Do you think much has changed at this level since you were last in charge?

Also, are there any players within the current set-up that you are really looking to progress this season? Who do you think could surprise the fans?

Looking forward to a great season. All the best.

Alex, London says...
12:43pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hi Micky,

Welcome back to the club!

How many more players do you hope to bring in before the season starts?

Is the squad you inherited in 2008 stronger than the squad when you took charge last time?

Alan O'Rourke, Wimbledon says...
12:49pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Welcome back Micky. What are the chances that you will bring back silky David Cameron (the ex-player, not the Tory leader) to act as a positive influence on the young players? Seriously, what are our chances of hanging on to Tommy Elphick, Dean Cox, Jake Robinson and Joel Lynch, and what role do you see them playing this season?

Paul, Brighton Seafront says...
12:50pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Afternoon Micky,

Are you currently lunching with Adam Virgo?

Dave, Bton says...
12:50pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hey Mickey

I hear the new boy McLeod likes a few ales! Will you be able to keep him off of West Street?

Seriously though, are you planning to play with two wingers next season? and do you think we are lacking a Charlie Oatway-style leader at the moment?

Steven, Worthing says...
12:51pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hello Micky,

Great to have you back.
Has a decision been made yet on whether you will be keeping Mayo, Hart or Reid?
And, what are your aims for the season?

Andrei Kanchelskis, says...
12:53pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Any chance of me training with you, this pre-season?

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
12:55pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hello everyone, I'm looking forward to answering all your questions. Fire away!

Jimmy T, Brighton says...
12:57pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hi Mickey, Great to have you back!

Have you been on the phone to Bobby Zamora yet? If anyone can tempt him out of the Premiership, its you (nothing wrong with a bit of wishful thinking on a Friday afternoon).

Can't wait 'til kick off!

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
12:59pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Phil,

In terms of player recruitment, we've started the ball rolling with the acquisitions of McLeod and Hawkins, and hopefully before the start of the season we will be hoping to further strengthen. I don't really want to talk about specific players or positions but they are hopefully players that will add quality and strength to the squad.

Jason Hannay, SE25 says...
1:00pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Afternoon,

I'm a Palace fan and as such have almost an obligation to 'hate' Brighton. But the club's demise has saddened even a few Eagles. It appears things may soon be on the up though. I wonder how confident you are that Albion will playing at their new Falmer stadium by the start of 2010?

Also, does playing at the Withdean with its terrible atmosphere make things harder for you as you don't get the support from the fans that might help the team?

Many thanks and good luck for the season.

Sam Horton, Work says...
1:01pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Micky. Welcome back.

Any new on Matt Richards? Are you a fan? Or will you be looking to get Jamie Campbell back, instead?

James, London says...
1:03pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hi Micky. Has being in charge of Coventry not put you off management for life? Their supporters hated you there!, Monty

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:04pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Alan,

Having signed a three-year contract my obvious ambition and planning is geared towards getting the football club into the Championship, at the new stadium.

Obviously the stadium project is very exciting and will take the club forward and will benefit the football club in lots of ways, not least of all attracting better quality of players to it, subsequently to that, once we are established in the Championship, the dream of the Premiership can be achieved.

Dirk Lehmann, Hinterland says...
1:08pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Guten tag Micky,

I have been vaiting for your return to Brighton. I feel ve have some unfinished business there.

This is a come and get me plea. Vhat are you vaiting for?

Dirk

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:08pm Fri 27 Jun 08

John,

I was disappointed that Dean chose not to accept the role working alongside me but fully understood it from his position. I've got high regard for him as a coach and I'm sure that he will be back in the game in some capacity sooner rather than later.

In terms of replacing him, and also Ian Chapman, I've got a few ideas, and I'll be speaking to the board and the chairman about this matter shortly.

James, Sussex says...
1:10pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hi Mickey, Welcome back

What helped convince you to return to the club for a second spell in charge?

Are you under pressure to balance the books by selling our valuable players like Elphick if a bid comes in?

Thanks and Good luck

Jim, Peacehaven says...
1:10pm Fri 27 Jun 08

If things go as we all hope, and the Brighton team do very well under your guidance, you will no doubt get interest again from bigger teams. What did you learn from that jump up the leagues before and would you think twice about leaving a succeeding Brighton side second time around?

Gary T, Hove says...
1:13pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hi Micky, I can't wait for the season to start.
A question on player recruitment, and your confidence in chief scout Barry Lloyd. If Barry recommends a player who you haven't seen yourself (perhaps from Ireland or abroad), will you trust his judgement and give that player a chance in the 1st team.

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:14pm Fri 27 Jun 08

GB,

I've watched a lot of games at League One level in my scouting role for Stoke City and not a lot has changed. There's obviously some so-called bigger clubs in the league, ie Leeds and Leicester, which shows that if you take your eye off the ball as a club, that's what can happen.

In terms of the players at the club, I'm looking forward to working with them all, but I've never liked to single out individuals.

US, Ocean Finance says...
1:15pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Do you think Big Bad Bas was worth an extra tank of gas per week?

Roger, Hove says...
1:16pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hi Mickey, welcome back.

Will you continue on from Wilkins' policy of using the young players in the squad, such as Fraser, Gatting, Gargan etc. or will you be bringing in players who will replace them?

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:17pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Alex,

Hopefully two or three more players will be added to the squad before the start of the season. Certainly, looking at the squad, it looks a lot stronger, with more quality, than when I first arrived at the football club all those years ago.

DtG, In my banana hammock says...
1:18pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Do you feel the players current undergarments are suitable for the promotion push? Or are they likely to leak too many at the back?

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:21pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Alan O'Rourke,

I think there's some really exciting young talent at the football club, who will take the club forward. Certainly I'm not under pressure as a manager to sell anybody, but as well all know, in football clubs everybody's got a price. But my immediate thought is to work with them and try and improve them.

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:22pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Paul,

No I'm not, I'm in an underground bunker.

Alex, says...
1:24pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hi Micky,

Will you keeping Nicky on as captain this season as he has done a fantastic job or do you have someone else in mind?

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:24pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Dave,

Nothing wrong with a drink at the right time.

I want to play with two wingers, and I feel that with the strikers that we've got at the football club, they will benefit from people putting more crosses into the box.

Alex Dawson, Rudgwick says...
1:25pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hi Micky,
I see that someone has already asked about your objectives for next season so I won't repeat the question.
However, what other (ie longer term) objectives have you been set by the Board and what are the delivery timelines for these?
Cheers

Alex

Eric Hitchmo, Coventry Conference says...

Welcome back Micky !!

I will now renew my season ticket, so I can watch some proper football the Adams way !! Bring back the old days.

Paul, Maidstone says...
1:27pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hi Micky,

Good to see you back and here's looking forward to further success for the club. I am really looking forward to the start of the new season.

How do you feel you have changed as a manager since your time here previously and how do you see the club has changed?

Appreciating you don't want to talk about names or positions, do you have a number of players you would like to see here and a deadline in mind to get players in so they can be as involved as much as possible in pre season or do you expect to be doing business up to the transfer deadline?

You mentioned when you were interviewed at the press conference that you would be reviewing the players released? Have you gone through this exercise and are we likely to see any returns?

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:29pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Steven,

One of my first jobs to do will be to assess the current squad that's under contract then decide in what positions we need to strengthen.

Obviously the three boys were released by the last manager, but all three will be given serious consideration on whether we bring them back.

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:29pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Alex,

The delivery times for the objectives set by the board are subject to whatever method of postaging that the club shop uses. I prefer FEDEX!

JW, Here says...
1:30pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Had the club approached you about taking over before the out of contract players futures had been decided at the end of last season? and did you have a say in who was released and who was kept?

Dan, Portslade says...
1:30pm Fri 27 Jun 08

welcome back mickey,

By now managing a club where you know the backroom staff, already have a good relationship with the fans and with the previous success you bought to the club. Does this take the pressure off a bit in regards to settling in ?.

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:33pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Jason,

Shame you can't support a decent team! Joking aside, the chairman is confident we'll be playing at Falmer in 2010.

Regarding Withdean, in my first spell at the club we made it a real fortress, and we'll be hoping to do that again this season.

Brett, Brighton says...
1:33pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Micky,

Who do you see as the main threats to us promotion wise bearing in mind the league is a lot stronger than last year.

What do you see as the strengths of us as a team as it stands??

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:36pm Fri 27 Jun 08

James/Monty,

Not really sure where you're coming from with that comment. As far as my record goes at Coventry, saving the club from relegation in my first season and then taking the club to eighth place in my next season will do me.

James, Essex says...
1:36pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Oh Micky, you're so fine
You're so fine, you blow my mind, hey Micky, hey Micky

Great to Have you back Micky. Hope you do the biz and get us back into the Championship where we belong!!, James

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:38pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Brett,

I don't agree with your observation about the League being stronger.

There is Leeds to consider of course, but on any day our squad is capable of beating anyone.

Why the defeatest attitude?

Alex, says...
1:39pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Do you agree with the general feeling of the fans that after a fantastic season last season Michel Kuipers should be given the number one shirt for the coming season?

Dave, Upstairs says...
1:41pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Micky - how do you feel about how your career in management has progressed to-date? You achieved some fantastic things with the Albion first time round, and when you left we all expected you to have a long career in the top flight. It is great to have you back at the helm (and without a doubt the best choice the club could have made for the new manager), but as a fan it still feels a bit strange.

What's your take?

Jason Hannay, SE25 says...
1:43pm Fri 27 Jun 08

it'll be good to see you in the championship soon. nothing quite like a guaranteed six points to get the eagles flying!

out of interest, do you support a team? is that possible when you're involved in professional football?

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:43pm Fri 27 Jun 08

James,

I think I said in my press conference that it was a no-brainer in terms of returning to the club. In hindsight, which is obviously a wonderful thing, I shouldn't have left when I did.

The opportunity to work with a chairman and a board of directors that I respect was too good an opportunity to turn down, plus the support of the Albion fans, which in my first spell was second to none, convinced me that I wanted to return.

In terms of Elphick and all the young players, I reiterate that I'm not under any pressure to sell anybody.

Gareth, Portfield says...
1:45pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Micky,

With Jason Dodd having been released by Southampton, is he not someone that the club could be looking to bring in to assist you ?

Brett, Brighton says...
1:46pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Micky Adams wrote:

I was being defeatest at all, I was interested in seeing how you think we will fair in a good league, that is all.

Im looking forward to the season a lot, and you have bought a big buzz back amungst the fans for a successful season.

I've even booked up to see you guys play in Athlone.

Definatley not defeatest and wish you all the best for the season

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:47pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Jim,

A lot of my ambitions have been fulfilled since I left the Albion, and what I want to do now is establish myself at a football club and take it forward. I don't want to sound as if I'm lacking ambition, but my goals now as a more experienced manager, are geared towards a football club - Brighton - than my personal ones.

Eamonn, says...
1:48pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Micky,

Firstly welcome back. How far do you see the loans market being used this season to supplement the current squad and the permanent transfer targets we have? Do you think over reliance on loans for a club such as Brighton is a good or bad thing?

Old granny, Hove says...
1:48pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Was you ever approached to be the 'mum' in the recently banned 'Mayo' advert?

You have nice lips. :)

Matt, Guildford says...
1:49pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Micky - will you be moving locally to the Brighton area or commuting from somewhere further afield?

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:51pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Gary T,

In regards of player recruitment, Barry Lloyd will be invaluable to me. It will be his job to highlight individuals that he thinks will improve the squad, but ultimately it will be my decision whether we take them or not. Once he's highlighted certain individuals, I will then endeavour to go and watch them myself.

Bart, Wick says...
1:53pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Micky,

What is the clubs position with regards to Adam Virgo ?

Paul Baron, Brighton says...
1:54pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hi Micky,

Firstly welcome back to the club.

Do you consider this job to be easier or tougher than when you first took over? I am interested to know how much of this current team have you seen already (over the last two seasons)?

Pleased to see we are heading abroad for a game. Were Longford not too keen on a repeat fixture? :)

Pete, Maidenhead says...
1:54pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Is there any player in the current squad you'd looked to sign while at another club. no need to give names, just a yes/no

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:54pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Alex,

Nicky Forster is the current captain of the football club, but like everything else at the club, some sort of assessment will take place. I know, having spoken to Nicky, that he's very proud of wearing the armband, and so he should be.

Tracy, Chichester says...
1:54pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Micky, who would you say is your best signing ever? Bobby Zamora? Fancy signing him again?!

Micky Adams, The Argus says...
1:58pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Thanks for all your questions, sorry I couldn't answer them all. See you all next season!

If you have any more questions, you can always write to me at the football club, even you Palace fans.

Keep the faith,
Micky Adams

Terry, Dover says...
2:00pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Micky - I just wanted to say that the support you showed during the stadium campaign when you personally came down and marched on the seafront with the rest of us was a tremendous gesture and deserves a lot of respect. Good luck this season.

Gary, Brighton says...
2:03pm Fri 27 Jun 08

Hello Micky

Has any decision been made to retain Gary Hart or Mayo for next season?

P.s I am over the moon with your appointment and have changed my mind and will be renewing my season ticket.
