Adam Virgo has rejoined Albion on a free transfer from Celtic.

The versatile 25-year-old has signed a two-year contract and reported with the rest of the squad for the start of pre-season training today.

Virgo's return, first revealed by The Argus three weeks ago, sees him link up with manager Micky Adams for a fourth time.

Adams gave him his Albion debut seven years ago. He later signed Virgo on loan from Celtic when he was Coventry manager and was assistant manager at Colchester last season when the Essex club also borrowed him from the Scottish giants.

Are you glad to see Virgo back?

step in the wrong direction maybe?

Im not going to question adams because his track records is quality but if he couldnt get into colchester's team and they were probablly the worst team in the championship then how is he going to help us get promoted??

sorry i dont like being negative!

well a good signing if he is fit, we now have 6 centrebacks and sicknote on our books, am i smelling a player leaving for the midlands?

I will always love him for his goal against Swindon - BUT - I can't help but think this is a step backwards.

Unless there is a player or two about to leave then i don't know where he will fit in.

We've moved on - haven't we?

Great news. Welcome back Adam. Also great business by the club to sell a player for £1.5m and re-sign on a free transfer. I hope he plays up front. Remember his great goals against Leicester, Watford, Ipswich and Swindon.

Welcome back Adam. He'll soon be announced as the new team Captain. Thanks to Elphick also...good luck when your move gets announced.

You're so right, let's play him up front. Ah, slight problem there, who are you going to drop, Murray or Forster.

I am glad he is back provides cover at the back & up front. Also he was a regular in Colchesters team last season (played over 30 games). Fine bit of business too £1.5 million profit.

Chris, Brighton says...

Why the negative comments? An above average championship player (at worst)Sussex born player at a good age who is a mountain at the back and can get thrown forward for the last 15 minutes if we're trailing.

A fantastic signing for us, can't wait for the OGH testimonial.

JB, London says...

A good signing on a free but given the cover at centre back, either Elphick is off or Lynch is our new left back.

man with a brain, doctors surgery says...
10:39am Mon 30 Jun 08

this must mean we have parted company with hinshlewood? or can the club afford 1200 a week for a player who has been told by two surgeons the knee has had it?

Average Joe, Brighton says...
10:41am Mon 30 Jun 08

Delighted to see him back, he'l add some height and physical presence wherever he plays. Lets hope Lynch doesn't move to left back - he looks shaky there compared to his imperious performances at CB. We've now got 4 quality CBs at the club (not including Hinsh until he's recovered or El-Abd!) - When was the last time we had that much great cover?

Gray, Hollingbury says...
10:46am Mon 30 Jun 08

Dont know where Elphick to Wolves rumours come from ? They have signed a defender from Leicester & due to sign another from Swindon cant see they will need 3 new defenders ? I am afraid Hinshelwood will never play again so will need the cover.

Seagull John, Hove says...
10:58am Mon 30 Jun 08

Why the negativity. Virgo is back four cover, but would make a crunching central midfield with El-Abd instead of the little men. Bring on the new season. Can't wait.

I'm not so sure this is a good idea, but I will hang fire on negative comments until the time calls for them. Welcome back Adam, hope you do us proud

Fantastic signing!

The lad will walk through walls for our club. His type of passion is just what we need.

Will he be made Captain?

Excellent signuing. Hopefully will re-produce his previous form. Hopefully Elphick will stay and the 2 will be our centrebacks this year.

If the Albion have moved beyond signing a player who spent last two years flitting between the the SPL and championship clubs, then who should we be signing?
Virgo is a great signing.

At last, a tough decision that we wanted! It's all good to have Adam back but where do we play him??? One of the hardest decisions we are going to have to make but it great to have a mulit-purpose player! Very Very happy to have him back at any cost, but to get him for a 1.5 million pound profit? Delighted!

good signing.... well its july tomo... that means the contractor will be unvailed and a start date given for the works!!!
no dont panic dick knight the master of spin will be on hand to tell us why its going to be shelved till the c crunch is over.

Royster, Brighton says...

Hey, how can you be negative?! We have a new member to the squad and is going to add for competition to places. Plus we made a packed it on him!

who said it would be elphick going, or wolves? might be another defender off to forest? as for hinshlewood, why is this club giving him money?

James, Brighton says...
7:15pm Mon 30 Jun 08

If Adam can play as he did before his move away he is worth taking a chance.
After not making the grade at Celtic he dropped down to Colchester and nobody else seems to want him,but lets give him a second chance.
I fear as last year Knight has a deadly plan,Sign a freebie then sell,he would`nt try that one again, would he?

Martyn, says...

Elphick
Lynch
El-Abd
Virgo
Hawkins
Hinshelwood
Pearson

I assume Pearson will be loaned out. But surely this is the end for sicknote?

Does this mean Lynch will play at LB?

Well thats the best bit of the little money Adams did have gone on wages. As for sick note hinshelwood the club must call it a day very soon.Plus the fact Mayo,Hart, and Reid can't get one other club to even look at them even when on a free means its time over for them.

Sorry a blue sq team are looking at Harty.Sort of proves my point.

Adams and Virgo together at Brighton, Colchester, Celtic and Coventry. Is anyone else thinking what I am thinking?

blueseagull, hastings says...
3:39am Tue 1 Jul 08

Yeah I'm thinking when were they together at Celtic? But seriously to sell a very good versatile player for £1.5m (who can play anywhere except in goal and I wouldn't put that past him!) then get him back 2 years later on a free has to be good business! and how useful will that versatilaty be later in season come suspensions and injuries?! keep up the quality signings Micky! Al bi on!

Perseus, Shoreham-by-sea says...
1:49pm Tue 1 Jul 08

Play him as an attacking centre back in 5-3-2, as a stopper in front of the back four in 4-1-3-2 or as the hard running midfielder on the diagonal in 4-3-3 but his control might not be quite up to the last one.

Now if Adams can make Hinch fit, he will have the most important asset of Good Luck.

What do you mean that we have mean wasted money on a player! No matter what this club does some people are never happy! So if your right, then we would never sign any one, and the club would crumble. As for you saing that this club must call it day, you can't be a true brighton fan becasue we would never give up even if we were playing at Hove park every saterday!
