Two birds of prey killed in Angmering barn fire

Two birds of prey were killed after a fire broke out in an outbuilding.

The animals were killed after fire ripped through a one storey, wooden outbuilding in Dapper’s Lane, Angmering at about 3am this morning.

Crews from East Preston, Arundel and Littlehampton attended the blaze for more than two hours but were unable to save the birds or the building which collapsed in the searing heat of the fire.

No one was injured in the blaze which is believed to have started accidentally.

What birds then? I'm guessing barn owls but why is there only partial information?

How does a fire start accidentally in a barn? There were extremely high winds in Sussex last night.
