Officers close Brighton road over fallen debris fears

A road was closed for more than an hour after fears that a loose door on a historic cinema could fall and injure a pedestrian.

Firefighters from Preston Circus were called to Gloucester Place in Brighton at 3.30pm this afternoon after a door was seen hanging precariously from the listed former Astoria cinema.

Sussex Police cordoned off the road while firefighters secured the door which was three storeys above the pavement below.

I would imagine some people might like to know why they'd been diverted or delayed by a closed road.
