Police get extra time to question Brighton street attack suspects
Sussex Police have been granted more time to question two teenagers arrested over a street attack which left a man fighting for his life in Brighton.
The suspects, an 18-year-old man from Hove and a 17-year-old boy from Brighton, were arrested on Friday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and aggravated robbery.
They are being questioned over the attack on a 36-year-old man in St James's Street, and a separate robbery at The Level, early on Friday morning.
On Saturday afternoon magistrates granted police another 36 hours to question the suspects.
The injured man remains in a critical condition at Hurstwood Park Neurosciences Centre in Haywards Heath.
He is believed to have been injured after a row with two people who were riding a moped the wrong way down the street.
Police confirmed this morning they had found a motorcycle helmet they were looking for near Islingword Street in Hanover.
Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101.
