Seaford man appears in court charged with attempted murder of a police officer

A man accused of attempting to murder a police officer has been remanded in custody.

Paul Allwright, 62, of North Way, Seaford, appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with attempted murder and possession of a shotgun with intent to endanger life.

The charges relate to an incident in North Way, Seaford, on September 16, which ended with Allwright being shot by Sussex Police officers.

He was arrested after his release from hospital.

Allwright appeared at Lewes Crown Court yesterday and was remanded in custody until a hearing on January 3.
