Abi Marshall is two and suffers from a Rae condition called Reflec Anoxic Seizures.

Her mum Cherish Ayres makes sure her day avoids situations that trigger her illness.

Rhys Watkins has twice battled back to health after cancer and cant't be with us tonight because he has fallen I'll again.

The Seaford youngster has a rare condition that causes benign tumors in the body.

Alex Rookley did not have second thoughts when he rescued his friend from drowning in the sea.

His mum said:"he didn't seem to realise how brave he had been."

All the children are worthy winners, so they all take home an award.  Each child receives £100.

Hayley Okines is 14 and suffers from the Rae condition Progeria. she is a student at Bexhill High School. She is doing well thanks to a drugs child. She is growing and putting on weight.

Benedict McAlister is five. He has a rare muscle wasting disease. He is a happy boy who can't always join in running and jumping with other children.

Ryan Mander has brittle bone disease. The 13-year-old from Lancing walked from Lancing to Worthign Pier and back to raise money to support Great Ormond Street.

Downs View School received an outstanding rating from Ofsted this year.

It provides a first class education, support and extra curricular activities to children with learning difficulties.

Nminator Sandy Austin described the staff at the school as operating as "one big family".

The Deans Festival wins the award as it is a community event inclusive for everyone.

It is organised by volunteers and everyone who works at the event is unpaid.

Alix Macfarlane said:" The Deans Festival is not just for any one section of the community and has developed into a great day out."

Winner Tina Cook claimed silver at London 2012 in the equestrian eventing  team.

It was always the Findon mum's dream to win a medal. The pressure was on for her final jumping rou but she kept her nerve for silver.

Winner Drusilla's Duffill founded Her eponymous theatre school in 1957. 

Her school is renowned locally and nationally for the training of young dancers for classical ballet and theatre careers.

Many former pupils have careers in the theatre and on television.

Winner Emma Wildman's son Haydn died suddenly aged nine.

Along with her partner Martin she set up Haydn's Wish to educate parents and teachers on the dangers of anaphylactic attacks and the link with asthma.

She is described as "an inspiration".

Winner Nicola Cunningham was accommodation manager at Jury's Inn, Brighton and has done so much work for sustainability this was incorporated into her job title.

Projects she is working on include the living roof and working towards One Planet accreditation.

She has reduced water and energy use.

Winner Dewi Vaughan has been at Longhill since 1973. Students set up a Facebook group calling for a new wing of the school to be named in his honour.

Pupils and parent past and present got behind it. Headteacher Haydn Stride said he was "humbled by the impact one person can have on the lives of so many."

Mr Vaughan retired at the end of last term but his name lives on at the school.

Winner Charles Boughton-Leigh co-founded the Ferring Country Centre near Worthing, providing horse riding and a working environment for adults with learning disabilities.

He also worked with Age Concern, Worthing Mencap and Co-founded Don't Cut Us Out.

His wife Anne collects the award as Charles died just after collecting his MBE.

Martin Perry thanks Brighton and Hove Albion fans for their support.

Martin Perry won the public vote for this award. He is Brighton and Hove Albion's Club Director.

He was instrumental in the club's move to the Amex Stadium.

The stadium has won a string of industry awards and held its first gig this year.

He is now working hard to make sure the club's new training facilities match the same exceptional standard as the Amex Stadium.

Winner Monica Hanna cares for her mother who has Marfans Syndrome, which damages the body's connective tissue.

Her two sisters also have degenerative condition, but are not affected by it yet.

In addition to caring for her family, particularly after her mother's recent heart surgery, Monica is studying at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and has just started her second year of her five-year degree.

Winner David Hills helped save a stranger's life after a man collapsed with a heart attack while playing tennis.

He performed chest compressions for more than 20 minutes to keep the 56-year-old man alive.

Son Stephen said:"He didn't want anyone to know about it, he's like that. He's a real hero and I'm proud of him."

Winner Antoine Coevoet is and 18-year-old apprentice bricklayer from Newhaven.

He studies at the Eastbourne campus of Sussex Downs College.

This year he win a bronze medal at the Guild of Bricklayers national competition.

Winner Brian Foxwell is 83, and has had a tough year, his daughter Julia told The Argus on her nomination form.

He had a stroke 25 years ago but has never let his disabilities effect him.
