Armed police swooped on a Crawley street after reports of a man with a gun.

The scare happened in Ashdown Drive at about 8.10am after police were called to reports the man was armed in a property.

Armed officers rushed to the scene and the road was closed for an hour and a half as officers investigated the possible gun threat.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "The report of a man with a gun was has not substantiated and a gun was not seen by police and was not found when the property was searched.

"There have been no reports of shots being fired or any injuries.

 

"Officers do not believe there is any risk to the public and are working to establish the origin of the report."

A 29-year-old man from Crawley was arrested at the scene at 9.50am on suspicion of possession of a class A drug and remains in custody this morning.

reports just in that no-one was arrested today for things that had hadn't happened are were not witnessed by anyone, sussex police had no comment on the nothing which didnt happen but it was clained that something might of happened elsewhere...more to follow

I think he must have been the dealer at the school where no drugs were found and the rapist from Hastings who did not exist.

Perhaps the constabulary were too busy doing proper police work to search properly today, escorting tall teenagers to off licences was far more likely to bag some real villains.
