The Royal Pavilion has a spectacular new lighting system.
Guests and officials gathered to celebrate the launch of the new LED lighting that will illuminate the building and highlight its architectural features.
The new set of lights is around 75% cheaper to run than the previous system. It was designed by Urban Projects Limited, the same company that designed the lightning for the bandstand on Brighton seafront.
Mayor of Brighton and Hove Bill Randall was on hand to turn the lights on. He said: “This new and economical scheme means the Royal Pavilion can now be lit in a way that this iconic and unique building deserves.
“Evening visitors to our city will now be able to see the Royal Pavilion in all its fantastic glory, whilst being assured that the scheme brings both a reduction in energy and light pollution.”
The dynamic new system has a range of different colours and will only illuminate the building and not the night sky. The previous system was removed in 2009.
