Robbers spray woman in face in Brighton street

Robbers sprayed liquid in a woman’s face before stealing her phone.

Sussex Police said a “distressed” 20-year-old woman told them she was robbed by two people she knew in West Drive, Brighton, at about 8.30pm on Wednesday, October 31.

She was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital but did not need to be admitted.

Police at first believed she may have been pepper-sprayed but medics said another irritant was used.

A 21-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man arrested on suspicion of robbery were being questioned last night.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101, quoting serial 1685 of October 31.

If you were the new "Police Commissioner" as you put it you would be gently reminded by your staff that you do not have the power or authority to do that....
