Tia Imbimbo before her haircut
A 12-year-old has cut off her locks following the heartbreak of losing her father to cancer.
Tia Imbimbo watched as her father Toni died of cancer in August. Determined to do some good in her father’s memory, Tia decided to have her long hair shaved off in his memory.
She said: “This summer holidays I lost my dad to cancer and it was such a hard time because I watched him die. As he died I thought about all our memories, everything he did for me and it made me remember how little I did for him.
“This is my way of giving something back to him, in his memory. Cancer is such an evil disease and anything I can do to get rid of it, and stop others from suffering like my dad had to.”
Tia had aimed to raise £150 for Cancer Research UK but collected almost ten times as much – with the total standing at more than £1,293 last night.
Her proud mother Zoe praised Tia’s “brave and selfless” act, after watching her hair cut off at Trendz Barbers in South Farm Road, Worthing on Wednesday.
