Your report and interview regarding the sad death of Jackie Stansby did not give the full picture and we feel it is right to put the record straight (The Argus, October 31). Mrs Stansby was never discharged from Mill View Hospital and staff made repeated and strenuous efforts to support her. The coroner was very supportive of the care provided by staff on the ward.
Staff were legally bound not only to review her detention under the Mental Health Act but to lift that detention. The inquest heard that the law did not allow for any other decision to be made.
