Two in hospital after stolen motorbikes crash

Two men were taken to hospital yesterday after a smash involving two stolen motorcycles.

The bikes crashed into each other at around 3.35pm on Thursday on the roundabout outside Tescos on the A259 at Littlehampton.

Both men riding the motorcycles, a 21-year old from Bognor and 20-year old from Littlehampton, received leg injuries and were taken to St Richards Hospital in Chichester and Worthing Hospital respectively. The 20-year old has since been discharged from hospital.

None of the injuries were life threatening.

The motorcycles had been reported stolen from Bognor and Littlehampton during the previous night.

PC Iain Lumbard of the Sussex Road Policing Unit based at Arundel said; "The two bikes had been seen being ridden at speed together through the Ford and Climping areas and on to the A259 towards Littlehampton shortly before the collision.

"We are asking anyone who saw them, or who saw the collision, to contact us via 101 quoting serial 0993 of 8/11. You can also email us at 'collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk'.

"Police have been investigating a number of motor cycle thefts in the Arun area recently and we remind owners to take all reasonable security precautions to prevent them being stolen."

No arrests have been made at this stage but Sussex Police said they would be interviewing both riders.

This is really quite sad. They may have stolen motorbikes but they are still human.

Anyway, who do you think will be booted off X Factor on Saturday?

The NHS should bill them for treatment.

Why the hell haven't they been arrested?! They'd stolen the bikes and were out on them - arrest immediately and handcuff them to their beds just like women who are in jail and give birth have done to them. One rule for women and another for men is it?

how many times do we read of a driver being arrested at the scene of an accident on suspicion of careless driving etc obviously one rule for normal people another for scrotes
apart from anything else hitting each other is careless driving.

The two involved in the theft should have been arrested on the spot, one of the bikes involved was my son's. That bike meant the world to him as his grandfather purchased it for him just before he passed away, the bike was my son's first and was only insured third party. The bike was a Wright off and was signed over to the garage that picked it up because they wanted hundreds to collect it and we had no method to do so, each days storage was another £10. The injuries to the thieves were only small, lucky. Unlike me son, he lost his beloved bike and could not get to his place of work. In my eyes what goes around comes around, and it will come!
