Options for the future of a mobile library service are to be considered.
Brighton and Hove City Council’s mobile library service was due to be axed to save £73,000 a year. But following objections from opposition councillors, the city council has now drawn up a list of alternative options to keep the service going for another year.
The council’s economic development committee is due to consider the seven possible options for the service at a meeting next Thursday (November 15).
The possibilities include reducing the service from six days a week to three, reducing the number of stops of the route from 24 to 15 or operating with just one member of staff.
Another alternative would be to replace the mobile library service completely with an improved delivery option from the city’s static library.
