A man has been airlifted to hospital after being struck by a delivery van today.
The elderly pedestrian was walking towards a bus stop outside a pub when he was hit at about noon on Saturday, witnesses said.
The crash took place outside The Vinols Inn in North Lane, West Hoathly, near East Grinstead.
A witness said: “A gentleman was walking towards the bus stop when a van coming down a hill hit him.
“He was badly hit and an air ambulance attended. They said he was stabilised at the scene.
“It was shocking.
“I really hope he is ok.
“There were about nine police cars.”
A Sussex Police said the road was closed.
They confirmed the man was struck and suffered “serious injuries”.
