Runaway maths teacher Jeremy Forrest will appear in court via videolink today, after being charged with abducting a teenage girl.

The 30-year-old from Ringmer near Lewes was arrested in Bordeaux in France in September, eight days after the pair's disappearance sparked a Europe-wide search.

The married amateur musician was charged with abducting a child by Sussex Police on October 10 after being extradited back to Britain.

He has been remanded in custody at Lewes.

Forrest, now of Chislehurst Road, Petts Wood, south-east London, will appear via videolink at Brighton Magistrates' Court.
