Brighton robbery victim lost her way

Detectives are looking for a tall olive-skinned man who attacked and robbed a woman.

The man grabbed the woman, who had become lost on her way to a friend’s house, dragged her into an alleyway at about 3.40am on Sunday, November 11 and stole her iPhone.

Her attacker is described as being in his 20s, six feet and slim.

Detective Constable Jane Walker said: “The woman had got lost and found herself in Dyke Road after walking from the city centre through Clifton Hill and the Montpelier area.

“I am asking anyone if they saw her. She was wearing a distinctive bomber style black leather jacket with thick beige fur trim on the collar and cuffs and a black skirt.

“She might have been followed or perhaps there was a man acting suspiciously in the area.

“Do you recognise the man we have described?”

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting serial 247 of November 11.

Brighton centre especially st james street area,seafront area from pier to well past west street are becoming a no go area,to avoid these areas you have to go further into the city but as this case shows that route is also very risky.My advise is if you cant afford a taxi home especially on your own avoid going into brighton centre.THE POLICE CANT BE RELIED ON IN YOUR TIME OF NEED.The police WILL be too busy to help you especially when the clubs are getting out.Perhaps we do actually need a police commissioner as the police in brighton are failing to protect its residents.

I am quite amazed that anyone is daft enough to walk around the streets of Brighton and Hove at 3.40am?! Get a taxi and if you cannot afford one then stay home. I always used to ask my taxi drivers to watch me to make sure I got inside my door safely as well and I never had one refuse to do this or to drive away before I got in - most taxi drivers are more than willing to help keep a woman safe AND I used to tip them as well, it all helps!
