In the cherry picker to decorate the Wakehurst Place Christmas tree
These bright sparks must have been holding their breath as they scaled a towering Christmas tree.
The brave workmen were decorating the iconic tree in Wakehurst Place near Haywards Heath.
The 118ft tree is the largest Christmas tree in England and can be seen for miles when fully lit. It holds an impressive 1,800 low-energy Christmas lights.
Ian Parkinson, Wakehurst’s Conservation and Woodland manager, said: “Christmas at Wakehurst just wouldn’t be Christmas without the giant tree. When we first lit a tree 21 years ago, we never expected it would become so popular.”
The lights will be officially turned on at the Big Switch On ceremony on Saturday, December 1. A festive choir will welcome the countdown celebrations as well as craft activities for children.
