A man has been jailed for a year after he broke into a house in Crawley and stole a black BMW, which was then stopped by police.
Ayaz Choudery, 21, of Farmilo Road, London, carried out the burglary in Furnace Green on August 17 last year and took a wallet, an iPhone and a bunch of keys including one for the BMW.
The owners, who were asleep upstairs at the time, heard the engine to their car being revved and immediately phoned the police.
Officers searched the area and stopped the car in Crawley town centre and Choudery, who was driving, was arrested.
He was subsequently charged with driving whilst disqualified, having no insurance, taking a vehicle without consent and burglary.
He was convicted at Lewes Crown Court on Monday (November 19) and jailed for a total of one year and banned from driving for one year.
