Beach-goers are being warned about a spate of small white balls.

The white substance has been washed up on a stretch of coastline from East Head to Cakeham Manor in Chichester, according to the local council.

A statement said: “These are small white balls which are likely to be natural emulsified oils and organic matter, which are commonly washed up on beaches following stormy sea weather.

“As a precaution, Chichester District Council is advising people not to touch the items or allow pets to eat them.

"The council will continue to monitor the situation over the weekend. The beaches remain open as usual.”
